Donors Message Sending
The system of SMS Donations is a project of Czech Donors Forum civic association and the Association of Mobile phone network operators (AMPNO), representing all phone operators - Telefonica O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone.
DMS Project, after almost two years of its operation, has gained undeniable public sympathy. This system of helping those in need is valued positively primarily for its simplicity and practicality. Before DMS times it was virtually impossible for most non-profit organizations to organize a collection that would be capable of such a fast and effective solution. Helping good causes was never easier.
DMS Project proved to be a fast means of aid in case of sudden humanitarian need (Asia, Pakistan, New Orleans). During the whole year it turned out that public knows DMS service and rates it positively (the system is simple and transparent). Non-profit organizations appreciate the fact that in its final effect DMS system increases an interest in the activities of the organization.
By the end of 2005 there were 93 projects involved in the system. To this date in 2005 there were 4. 178.000 DMS sent. That means more than 112.944.000 Czech crowns for beneficiaries of help.
As an information resource for public and non-profit organizations there are web pages for the project www.darcovskasms.cz and a telephone line 296 325 335. For a larger transparency of the whole process there was a transparency account at the e-Bank set up for DMS needs, where it is possible to monitor cash flow from the mobile phone operators to the organizations.
DMS Exemption from VAT
During 2005 an amendment of law about VAT was advanced into the legislative process enabling SMS donations to be exempt from VAT. The amendment of law about VAT, which was prepared by Czech Donors Forum in conjunction with the mobile phone operators and discussed with the HM Treasury of the Czech Republic, came into force on 1st January 2006.
